Effects of Tribulus terrestris extract

What is Tribulus terrestris

Tribulus tribulus is an annual herb with stems branched from the base, recumbent, pale brown. 1.5 -- 5 cm long, leaflets 6 -- 14, opposite, rectangular, 6 -- 15 x 2 -- 5 mm, apex acute or obtuse, base slightly oblique, suborbicular, entire. Flowers small, yellow, solitary leaf axils; Pedicels short; Sepals 5, persistent; Petals 5; Stamens 10, bearing disk base, base with scaly glands. The fruit consisted of 5 schizocarp, and each schizocarp had 1 pair of spines. There are short stiff hairs and nodular processes on the dorsal side. Distributed all over the country, the most common north of the Yangtze River; It is found in temperate regions of the world. More born in the hills, fields and fields, often weeds in the field; The fruit is used as medicine, and has the effect of dispersing wind, calming liver and brightening eyesight. The tender stems and leaves can cure pruritus. Seeds can be pressed for oil; The stem fibres are used to make paper.

Ingredients

kaempferol, kaemopferol-3-glucoside. kaempferol-3-rutinoside, quercetin, Vitamin C, diosgenin, peroxidase.
The seeds contain trace harman, and the main fatty acids in the seed oil are palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, etc.
Dried fruit contains fat oil and a small amount of volatile oil, tannin, resin, sterol, potassium salt, trace alkaloids, saponins. The seeds contained the alkaloids Harman and Harmine, but did not contain saponins.

Effects of Tribulus terrestris extract
1. Effect on blood pressure. Tribulus terrestris aqueous extract, ethanol-water extract, and 30% ethanol extract had hypotensive effects on anesthetized animals. The water-soluble fraction had a moderate hypotensive effect. Clinical studies showed that therapeutic amount of tribulus terrestris saponins had no significant effect on patients' blood pressure.
2.Effects on the heart. Patients take Tribulus terbulus saponins in the treatment of coronary heart disease, has the effect of relieving angina pectoris, improving myocardial ischemia, and can improve the symptoms of chest tightness, palpitation, shortness of breath and precordial pain in different degrees.
3. Antiatherogenic effect. Prevention experiments showed that Tribulus terrestris saponins could significantly inhibit the increase of blood cholesterol and the decrease of lecithin/cholesterol ratio. In addition, it also inhibited lipid deposition in arteries, myocardium and liver. However, there are also reports that the clinical therapeutic dose of tribulus terrestris saponins has no significant effect on blood lipids.
4. Diuretic effect. The aqueous extract of the decoction of Tribulus terbulus and its ash has a diuretic effect, and its diuretic effect is mainly due to the presence of potassium salts. It has been reported that, in addition to potassium salts, the alkaloid moiety also has some diuretic effect. Clinical treatment is effective in patients with ascites and edema.
5. Tribulus terrestris saponins have a certain strong effect on the body, and have a certain inhibitory effect on some degenerative changes in the aging process of the body.
6. Effects on sexual function. The total saponins from the stem and leaf of Tribulus terbulus did not promote the development of the seminal sac and prostate in the testis removed male rats, and could not significantly increase the uterine weight of ovariectomized mice, suggesting that it had no androgen and estrogen-like effects. However, it can promote the development of sex organs in young mice, indicating that the drug has a gonadotropin-like effect. "However, this effect could be inhibited by pituitary removal and pre-injection of morphine, suggesting that gonadotropin-releasing factor may be first stimulated in the hypothalamus, which in turn exerts its effect through the anterior pituitary."
7.Effects on smooth muscle: The aqueous fraction antagonized the contraction of rat intestinal tracts and the alkaloid fraction antagonized the contraction of rat intestinal tracts and frog rectus abdominis muscles induced by acetylcholine.
8. Other roles. Both alkaloid and water-soluble fraction of Tribulus terrestris can inhibit the movement of small intestine in rats, which can antagonized the action of acetylcholine. The anticholinesterase activity of the alcohol extract of Tribulus terrestris was also demonstrated by the experiments in the rectus abinus muscle of frog. Its central excitatory effect is also the result of anticholinesterase action. The Plant Extracts inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.
